How a cardboard box from home changed my on-the-go eating - UX analysis.

I decided to grab some food on the go from home and take a walk in the park 🌳 while eating. However, I needed a convenient package. It is often the "unsung hero" of eating.

And I thought to myself... how can I make this "normal" cardboard box a proof of strong and well-thought-out design (usability) for a person who likes to walk and eat?

Here's how I thought and acted:

🌳 What it is: The main function of my packaging

🟫 Material:

A simple, eco-friendly cardboard that creates a natural feel.

🟫 Shape:

An open, angular box with slightly flared sides. This provides easy access and a stable base.

🟫 Size:

I started out as a single serving, reducing waste and easy disposal in the park.

🟫 Included utensil:

A wooden fork that fits seamlessly into the eco-friendly design of the packaging.

🌳 Why it works:

🟫 The open design clearly shows how to interact with the box. Consumers instinctively know that they can eat directly from it.

🟫 The wide opening allows for easy scooping, suitable for different hand sizes and dexterity even for your friend when they want to "take a little bite" πŸ˜ƒ.

🟫 The compact size and sturdy material make it ideal for on-the-go eating, fitting comfortably in a hand or bag if there is no bin nearby.

🟫 Eco-friendly materials appeal to environmentally conscious consumers, improving brand perception.

The rustic, unbleached cardboard creates a sense of authenticity and simplicity, in line with current consumer trends towards natural and healthy eating experiences, and what better way to blend in with a walk in the park? πŸ™‚

🌳 How this impacts the consumer:

Here’s an example:

β€œSasho places an order, receives his food, eats it, and throws it away. This packaging excels at every stage, providing a seamless experience.

Now imagine watching Sasho and Tanya eat from this box. You’ll likely see ease of access, comfortable handling, and minimal spillage.

The insulating properties of the cardboard help maintain the temperature of the food, enhancing the eating experience.

The β€œsimple” design allows the food to be the focal point, creating a visually appealing presentation.

🌳 I had this in mind too...

🟫 Cleanliness is key:

In a world of overly complex products, this packaging stands out with its elegant purity. It focuses on functionality and sustainability, which are highly valued by consumers.

🟫 Improved eating experience:

Makes eating on the go more enjoyable and less messy.

🟫 Brand consistency:

Eco-friendly materials and design are combined with brands that prioritize sustainability and natural products.

🟫 Cost-effective:

Simple cardboard packaging is often more affordable than complex plastic or multilayer alternatives. (This is just my opinion in this situation, everyone has a choice in how to think).

🌳 Conclusion:

Next time you grab a bite to eat on the go, take a moment to appreciate the packaging. It's often the unsung hero of your dining experience.

And here's how my "simple" cardboard box is a testament to the power of well-thought-out design.

What do you think? After reading this, would you buy my box and why from me? Tell me what made you and gave you the confidence to choose my box?
